Kone

On Friday we left for the mining town called Kone. Its about a 3 and a half hour drive from Noumea to Kone. We stayed in these cute little bungalows for the night. One for the workers, Brennan and Cameron and one for us and Brittany.

Cute bungalows we stayed in!

The next morning we visited some contacts we met, then went to a beach for a few hours and then drove back  to Noumea.

Big spider we saw on the way to the beach. Some of them were around the size of our hands. They would all hang from the electricity wires or from the fence. We probably saw 40 of them within 1 minute of driving.

Boys lost in the waves.

Very cool rock! You weren't able to get to close to it because it was a "Danger Zone"

Once we left the beach we started our drive back to Noumea. On the way there, we decided to stop at an old cemetery for the New Zealand's Soldiers that passed away in WWI. It was a beautiful place with amazing
scenery.

Entrance gate sign.

Walk way towards the cemetery.

Monument Building

Guest book signing. A few people from Ontario and Montreal signed but none from Alberta, so we were the first! :)

Rows and Rows of Soldiers.

Monument at the end of the Cemetery. The view from here was Beautiful!

The list of New Zealand men who passed away in WWI.

View from Monument. Click it!

View of Graves from opposite end. The site was VERY well  kept.

Youngest man we found there was only 18 years old.
